About Claire Scott

A calm, thoughtful presence

Claire is a Gisborne celebrant who works with couples and families wanting something personal, modern, and easy to connect with.

A little background

Why Claire became a celebrant

Claire first stepped into celebrancy after friends asked her to lead a wedding. What began as a natural yes quickly felt like the right fit. She loved the mix of people, storytelling, preparation, and the privilege of helping mark a really important moment well.

Since then, she has become known for ceremonies that feel calm, meaningful, and joyful, without becoming stiff, overdone, or generic.

Hi, I’m Claire. I love people, I love good stories, and I love helping make important moments feel a little easier.

I am based in Gisborne, and I work with couples across the East Coast who want a ceremony that feels warm, modern, and genuinely personal. For me, the best ceremonies are the ones that feel natural in the room. They reflect the people at the centre of them without trying too hard.

I have also been a teacher for more than 20 years, which means I am very used to listening carefully, communicating clearly, and staying calm when there is a lot happening. Those skills turn out to be just as helpful in celebrancy as they are in the classroom.

I am a mum of three, and family is a big part of my life. That is one reason I especially love ceremonies that bring people together in a genuine way, whether that is a backyard wedding, a beach celebration, or a quiet memorial that needs to be handled with care.

If you are looking for someone organised, approachable, and easy to talk to, I would love to hear about what you are planning.

What couples can expect

A style that feels grounded and easy to trust

I listen first

Before I write anything, I want to understand who you are, what matters to you, and the kind of feeling you want the ceremony to have.

I keep things clear

I know how helpful it is when someone is organised, responsive, and quietly on top of the details. That is a big part of what I bring.

I speak with warmth and confidence

Whether the moment is joyful or reflective, I aim to help people feel settled, connected, and present.

Claire’s approach

Personal, respectful, and never overdone

Claire’s role is to capture the tone you want and help the ceremony feel settled from the start. That may mean weaving in your story, helping with the structure, or including cultural elements and te reo Māori in a way that feels natural and respectful.

The goal is always the same: to create a ceremony that feels like the right fit for you and to deliver it with warmth, confidence, and care.
